Our Nursery

We are a small, 24-place, committee-run nursery that has been at the heart of the Newcastle area in Glenrothes since 1983.

We are in partnership with Fife Council which enables us to provide funded spaces for children aged 3 to 5 years.

Our operating times are from 9 am until 3pm, we also offer a breakfast club session that operates from 8.20 am until 9am.

We are based within Newcastle Primary School and have exclusive use of the community room which we use as our nursery space and have a small garden that the children have free-flow access to. We also have scheduled use of the gym hall where the children participate in physical activity and yoga and also have scheduled playground time.

Operating from the school building has allowed us to develop a great, professional relationship with the school; this works particularly well for transitions as almost all the children who attend Newcastle Nursery then end up moving on to Newcastle Primary School.

We make great use of the local community by doing weekly forest kindergarten trips to the local woods and visits to a care home where we focus on intergenerational learning opportunities.

Our Values

We have a clear understanding of our values at Newcastle Nursery:

Respect – promoting a culture of tolerance, inclusion, diversity, equality, fairness, and opportunity.

Achieve – Together we recognise, support, and celebrate our learners’ achievements and developments in nursery, at home and in the community through promoting their curiosity, investigation, discovery, and enquiring minds.

Nurture – Providing a caring, settled, and stable environment where children feel their well-being is at the heart of the nursery and adults support their physical, mental health and emotional well-being through supportive and responsive approaches.
